One misunderstanding in paint language is that people think eggshell is a color! It is not, it is a finish that creates an eggshell appearance in the texture of the paint. One thing to remember is that the most expensive paint is not always best quality, sometimes you are just paying for a name. However that being said when it comes to low cost paint, there are missing ingredients that do affect the finished product, and therefore low cost paint should be avoided. Ask questions at a reputable paint store and educate yourself. When it comes to paint finishes applying “High Hide” paint will cover old paint better. Flat sheen will hide imperfect walls better. Types of Finishes Flat: Offers a smooth dull looking finish. It is hard to clean walls after, it hides minor imperfections, and is best used for ceilings Eggshell: Offers a low sheen like an eggshell! It hides flaws and is easy to wash after. It is a very good choice for Living rooms, halls and bedrooms Semi –Gloss: Offers a high shine, is easy to clean but it emphasizes faults. It is best used for baseboards, doors, and trims only
